Shane Powell, MD is the first and only ophthalmologist based in the Uintah Basin. Dr Powell has been providing surgical and office based eye care in Roosevelt and Vernal since 2001. Dr. Powell has performed more than 3,000 cataract surgeries.
Dr. Powell graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine and completed an internship at David Grant Hospital in California. He did his ophthalmology residency training at the Medical College of Virginia prior to joining the staff at the Uintah Basin Medical Center.
Dr. Powell is a native of Marion, Utah. He and his wife, JungHee, have four children. In his spare time he enjoys running, hiking, biking and spending time with his family.
